Who we are
HopefulFetes is an event-planning app.
What we collect
- Hosts: your name, email and password (stored as a one-way bcrypt hash, not readable text). We save your event description, title, date, time, location, guest count, plan, to-dos, dishes, assignment names, invite choices and uploaded image.
- Guests: the name you enter, your answer, party size, optional dietary notes and dishes you offer to bring. No email, phone number or account is requested.
We also use IP-based request counts in server memory to limit RSVP spam.
How we use it
To run the app: save plans, display invites and show hosts their guest responses. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising. These services help us run it:
Services that help
- Render: our server and database, configured in Oregon, USA.
- Netlify: our website and app hosting.
- Cloudinary: uploaded invite images.
- Anthropic: when you ask for a plan, we send your event description, planning instructions and the current date. We don't add guest lists, RSVPs or dietary notes. Please leave private guest details out of your description.
- Google Fonts: your browser loads fonts from Google in the app.
Loading pages, fonts or images sends technical request details, including an IP address, to their hosting services. Opening a location link shares that location with Google Maps.
Who can see what
Hosts see responses to their own events: names, answers, party sizes, dietary notes and dishes. Public invites don't show guest lists or other guests' responses.
Anyone with an RSVP link can see the host's displayed name, invite details, location, image and open dishes. Share links only with people you're inviting.
Cookies
One session cookie keeps hosts signed in. Guests don't need it to RSVP. We don't add analytics, tracking or advertising cookies or scripts.
Please don't share health information
Dietary notes are for preferences like vegetarian or no pork. Please don't enter allergies, medical conditions or other health details; tell your host directly instead.
Keeping and deleting information
Saved accounts and events stay until removed. Hosts can delete events in the app, removing their plan, assignments, RSVPs and RSVP link from the database. We also request image deletion; storage errors can leave an image behind. Immediate removal from provider backups or caches isn't guaranteed.
For account or guest RSVP deletion, email us below. These requests are handled manually, not through an in-app button.
Children
HopefulFetes isn't intended for children under 13.
